I too had the opportunity to experience a cruise holiday with my family over Spring Break in March. Our trip to the Mexican Riviera aboard Holland America’s ms Oosterdam is now regarded as the pinnacle trip in our family!

We had two picturesque window tables in the dining room and the waiters were creatively entertaining; they danced; they sang; and they paraded a magnificent Baked Alaska dessert throughout the dining room for all the guests. It was a spectacle of animation and quite appetizing in the end. Holland America spoiled us with their sensational service and attention to detail. Everyone we encountered had a magnetic presence and excelled in name recognition.

As the mother of three teenagers, this was a genuine vacation for me. I never had to worry about what my children were doing; they enjoyed spending time with family. The best part…no laundry, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping or chauffeuring and although all ships have gone Hi-Tech with data ports in every stateroom as well as Wi-Fi capabilities and Internet Cafés, we chose to stay incommunicado with the outside world.

We laughed about our cross-country “National Lampoon” like vacations of long ago, with seven of us stuffed in a Buick station wagon. You know what I mean…we all did it…and we share an anthology of memories. Times have changed though, and with so many options for stress-free all-inclusive travel, cruising is the way to go!
